Ultra Violet Sterilization provides

How does it Work?
When viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms are exposed
to light at a particular wave length ( 253.7 nanometers),
their reproductive capabilities are rendered inoperative.
If they can't reproduce, they are harmless to human health.
Water flows around an ultra violet lamp within a stainless
steel chamber . There is no change in the colour, odor, or
taste of the water - it is simply microbiologically safe to
drink.
OSW sells a high performance, "Made in Ontario" system
from Trojan Technologies - The UVMAX Using high-output lamps
not normally found in residential sterilizers, the UVMAX allows
for higher water flows and smaller physical sizing.
We offer two versions of the UVMAX.
A) Single faucet model. mounts undersink and sterilizes drinking
water for an existing faucet, or from an optional drinking water
faucet.
B) Whole house model. Mounts where the water enters the house
and treats all the water in the house. Flow rates up to 14 gal.
per minute can be effectively handled by this unit.
System Prerequisites:
Water entering the UV chamber must meet the following
conditions:
Less than 10 grains of hardness*
No iron**
Sediment pretreatment to 5 microns***
*With more than ten grains of hardness, calcium build-up will
coat and reduce the effectiveness of the UV bulb. A water softener
solves this problem.
** Similarly, iron reduces the effectiveness of the bulb. Small
amounts of iron are removed with a carbon filter or a water
softener. Larger iron filters are also available.
*** Sediment filters are included with UVs sold by us.
Installation:
There are three options for installation of any OSW products.
You can do it yourself, hire a plumber, or have us do it. Installing
the UVMAX is straightforward and a flexible install kit is available
which eliminates soldering copper pipe - just cut out a small
section of existing pipe where you want the unit to be placed.
Connect the flex pipe from the kit, mount the units on a wall,
and you're done*
*Because UV treatment has no residual effect, all the plumbing
and faucets downstream from the unit must be disinfected prior
to putting the unit into operation. This is a simple operation,
which we describe in detail with the operating instructions.
